BaseLine System

Let me start by saying I have used Yakima products for my last 3 vehicles and never had an issue. This time was different. It took my partner and I HOURS to install the system. The measurements provided by Yakima did not fit my vehicle. Because nothing fit correctly where it was supposed to, the clips and towers just popped up everytime we tightened them. Nothing would stay flush. This left such a sour taste in my mouth I’m making sure the next vehicle I buy has side rails or factory installed cross bars. And before someone comes at me saying I’m dumb, I’ve installed several Yakima systems before without issue and my partner is a mechanic. We are not dumb. I think products better designed for each vehicle would be better.

I bought a Ford Maverick as a work truck and the only issue was having to find a way to carry around long ladders etc without the need to pull my trailer with me everywhere. I found the perfect combination with a Yakima roof rack in combination with an adjustable bed rack that makes an ideal platform for even my 300# rated, 40' extension ladder (collapsed to 20')!

The baseline system for my 2023 Toyota Tundra works great and looks awesome. I had a wind fairing and swapped it over to the front crossbar. The sunroof works flawless with items loaded on the bars. 5 stars for sure.

If this falls off your car you installed it wrong.
I've had mine on my Golf GTI for nearly 4 years now. It's had canoes 6' longer than the car on it. It's been tracked a dozen times with the rack still up there. With the performance modifications, the ECU flash, and the speed limiter removed, at the track, I've done 175mph with this rack on the roof and it hasn't moved a millimeter in 4 years. It's been on there all summer, all winter, still looks brand new, still solid, no issues at all. You don't even know it's up there until you roll the window down and can hear a bit of wind noise from it at highway speeds. It is pricey, but it lasts.

Fell off my car. 2014 honda. Felt great about the installation. It felt very sturdy. Car is garage kept. All seemed well for a few months.

Then one day the rear one just fell off. Didn't even find out until I parked my car after the 20 minute drive on highways... I feel terrible about who might have been behind me. I was thinking it was a fluke and I was going to buy a replacement but others are posting the same thing. Moreover, it really looks like they are hiding reviews that have less than 5 stars...

Very easy to assemble

We have a 2019 Honda Insight Touring. Yakima as of today's date is the only one that makes a roof rack for our Honda. It took me about an hour to put everything together while watching Friends. In the pictures the cargo box isn't locked into place. I only put it together to make sure it fits perfectly and to show my wife. We can't wait for our first road trip. The cargo box is the SkyBox 18 Carbonite.
Pros:
* Easy to assemble
* Easy to install
* Instructions are very well written with plenty of diagrams

Cons:
* The cost. But you get what you pay for. I can see this roof rack lasting my life time.

Interested in system with HD bars to match truck bed bars. Sad Yakima does not answer/respond to questions posted here from past reviews.

I put Baseline towers with Jetstream 60" on a 2018 Kia Soul electric, cause it didn't come with the mounting holes. So far it's super strong, I've been carrying lumber around for some construction, not sure the weight but probably around the max recommended and no issues. I will say that the fit doesn't look that great if you follow the instructions for my model based on the recommended baseclips (the curve on the rubberized bottom seems different than the corresponding roof surface. So I did some minor adjustments based on the shape of the roof when mounting it. Happy I have nice roof racks. Which the locks were included for the prize.
